Unfortunately I cannot name all of the schools, but I would like to try to help. Perhaps finding the different terms that you mention and looking those up would help, or you could call one of the universities you listed and talk to someone in that department about it. Most people there would be willing to help you find a school that is right for you without necessarily thinking of it as "competition."

I want to get a head start. What should I know about Computer Information Systems-management

I want to get a head start. What should I know about Computer Information Systems-management?
I decided to withdraw from graduate school(I was taking up Guidance and counseling) and pursue what I really wanted- Computer Information Systems-management. I am now looking to pursue my Master's in CIS-management but my BA was in Sociology. What skills or computer programs should I know? I have great computer skills but don't know any C++ or Oracle, or any of the advanced computer skills. How should I prepare for this career? Also, I am looking to take the courses online. I'm looking at the University of Phoneix, they have a campus in my city but also offer online courses.

MIS (Management Information Systems) is similar to an MBA, but specifically deals with running the computer side of internal operations. Tech experience is good for the position, the best thing you could do is after a year in the program start looking for a Computer Operations or Network Operations Center position. This will get you inside a company and get you some hands on tech experience so that when you finish the degree you at least have an understanding of what being a tech is like. Overall though, it's a specialized management degree, which is the way the buisness world is tending to these days as they've realized an MBA means next to nothing when they aren't in a "traditional" department like sales or HR.

the best thing you can go for is Oracle..(SQL , SQL PLUS , DBA or Apps)...there are plenty of sites that can help you get shaped for future..and also Oracle is good in DB side.. try the below site for these complete set of resources that can help you to learn them free online and also help you for certification

Ok for real. Is a masters in information systems worth it? I mean really

Ok for real. Is a masters in information systems worth it? I mean really?
So I'm considering getting a masters in accounting or a masters in information systems. Making a complete change from a BA in Political Science. I would like to do both but there is no dual program at the school I want to go to and its super expensive anyway. I keep getting mixed reviews about these questions. (1) Which has the potential to make more money (2) Most importantly- which help get me a JOB after graduation (hopefully before, haha). But I need a REAL CAREER. (Sorry a lot of frustration these last couple of months) (I feel that even after finishing my study in Info Systems I still have to get certs before I can even begin to interview for jobs) My Goal is to work for PwC or Booz Allen Hamilton. No matter which I choose.

Either degree would be an excellent choice, and will help you get a career after school. I think that graduating with the MIS degree will get your more money immediately (a higher starting salary after grad school), but the MAcc degree has a higher potential salary. Either way, you could work for a company like PwC or Booz Allen Hamilton - they both have large consulting/assurance/internal auditing departments for the Information Systems degree and deal with acquisitions for the MAcc degree.

Most colleges have Intern programs that let you get your foot in the door of Good Companies even before you graduate...Got to the College you graduated from and see if they have some leads to getting you into a company...Either that or Network...meaning who do you know that's already working one of these jobs? Do they know anybody that could put in a good word for you so that your application will be picked out of the rest??? See where I'm going with this...
